Jules Wabbes is one of the leading Belgian furniture designers and interior architects of the post-war period. He first opened an antiques and decoration shop in Brussels before starting to create his own furniture and objects.
Jules Wabbes (1919–1974) was a distinguished Belgian designer, renowned for his minimalist, elegant furniture and lighting. Born in Ixelles, Belgium, he studied interior design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. Wabbes founded the company Mobilier Universel and collaborated with the De Coene Frères for cabinetry, reflecting his commitment to craftsmanship and quality. Known for his refined designs, Wabbes' work is marked by modern lines, high-quality materials, and attention to detail. His creations, such as lighting fixtures often considered art, earned him prestigious awards like the Grand Prix at the 1957 Milan Triennale. Today, Caroline and Vincent Colet continue his legacy, faithfully reproducing his designs.
