Silas Seandel (born 1937, in New York City) is an American sculptor and furniture designer known for his distinctive, one-of-a-kind sculptural furniture pieces that combine art with functionality. Seandel studied sculpture and economics at the University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 1959, and opened his studio in 1963. Over the course of his extensive career, he has become renowned for creating custom-designed furniture for designers and architects, with pieces executed in solid metals such as brass, bronze, steel, and copper. His works are unique for their use of heat treatments and acids to achieve vibrant, natural colors without artificial finishes.
 
In addition to his sculptural furniture, Seandel is well-known for his large-scale architectural sculptures, including a World Trade Center Memorial in Greenwich, Connecticut, and commissions for major institutions like AT&T, Forbes, and Johnson & Johnson. His work has been praised for introducing traditional sculpture techniques into furniture design, earning him recognition as one of the finest artist-craftsmen of his time.
